Marcelo In The Real World by Francisco X. Stork
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I think this wins the best of YA Lit of 2009 for me -- so much more than a story of a 17-year old with Asperger's coerced into working in the mailroom at his father's law firm for the summer. It is also a story of justice, compassion, love, and faith. The characters in this novel are all so sharply drawn and compelling-- I would love to meet Jasmine or Rabbi Heschel. This one is a must-buy and makes me want to read his others.
