Found a new meme this week, so not only will this be linked up over at The Well-Read Child, but also for the Library Loot meme at Reading Adventures. Such booky fun!
This week's Book Bag is brought to you courtesy of my son, "Mugger." Being a newly independent reader, he's been devouring books this summer, so I asked him to share some of his favorites of the last week.
Fans of the I Spy books or Where's Waldo are sure to love Pip in the Grand Hotel, the tale of a pet mouse who escapes to various locations inside and outside the Grand Hotel. From Mugger: "I thought how it was funny that he hid in so many places and the kids kept finding him."
I don't know what it is about this little white dog, but Mugger has read so many of the Noodles the Puppy books this summer. He was rather impressed that this title was 2 books in one: I Won't Share and I Am Brave. I Love Snow was a big hit with him this week, too.
We picked this one up on recommendation from our library's kid lit blog. The 19 short poems in Days Like This are about the joys of summer days from authors like Ogden Nash and Eve Merriam were a big hit with our boy who proclaimed them "silly" and "funny" and said his favorite was the one about the beach.
So that's it for this week. Mugger did have other favorites, like Zack's Alligator ("he's awesome"), Father Bear Comes Home, and his first Calvin and Hobbes, but there's only so much that can fit in the Book Bag each week!
It is so cute that you are including your son in Library Loot! Thanks so much.
